GAME DAY PROCEDURES
- KNOW THE NFHS RULES.
- 30 minutes before:
- Arrive on site
- Sign so you get paid for game(s)
- Wear black pants and White or the Grey t-shirt
- Communicate with your Co-official if you are running late
- Let HOME COACH know you are there so they don’t call assignor!
- R1 and R2 pre-game briefing. **Also include Line Judges in your pre-game briefing.
- Field Inspection: Locate Administrator, clock operator, inquire about player introductions/National Anthem procedures (varsity matches). Check that the net is correct height, pressure balland line judge flags are present,
- Greet coaches: Obtain team rosters, ask coaches if players are properly equipped. Check game balls for proper air.
- Call for Team Captains: execute coin flip.
- Conduct yourself in a professional manner at all times.
Improve your knowledge and mechanics
R1 and R2 stand on sideline near score table.
R1 signals Captain(s) and Head Coach from each team.
Introduction of captains to each other and officials introduce themselves.
Review/discuss new rules.
Review rules regarding equipment and uniforms, including hair devices, braces, jewelry, etc.
Remind that floor captain is the only one who may address officials.
Stress the use of sportsmanlike conduct.
Ask if there are any Questions.
Coin toss – Home team establishes their bench area.
Visiting team calls toss. Winner chooses Serve or Receive.
Wish each team good luck. Report results of coin toss to scorer.
